Located inside the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, the William H. Smith Memorial Library houses an abundance of unique resources. The Library is open 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The IHS Collections and Library both preserve and make accessible one of the largest archival repositories of manuscript, printed and visual materials on the history of Indiana and the Old Northwest, including more than:

Research Visits
Access to the William H. Smith Memorial Library at the History Center is free, and no appointment is necessary to use the collections. The library is open to the public 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Our skilled librarians and archivists are happy to assist both the novice and professional researcher.
Researchers can bring laptop computers and notes. First-time visitors to the library will be asked to complete a registration card, and a photo ID is required to use library materials. All collections must be used on site and do not circulate. Before visiting the library, feel free to search our collections using our various research tools, listed below, to see what materials we hold on your topic. An outdoor lover’s paradise, Perry County offers several boat ramps on the Ohio River providing ready access for boating and fishing. With nearly 60,000 acres of the Hoosier National Forest, the area provides a natural wonderland for adventures. The Ohio River National Scenic Byway runs through the county. It provides great bicycling and driving areas that take you through the small towns along the way telling the story of the river, the county, and the culture of the area. The Byway is a favorite destination for motorcycle enthusiasts and is a beautiful location for fall foilage viewing.
Perry County is a true four seasons destination offering numerous opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and leisure travel. Whether your tastes run to wineries, cabins, yurts, or anything involving nature and the outdoors, Perry County is for you. Come! Enjoy!

was named Bristow in honor of John James Bristow.
